食府 Our House

South of the river,
two minutes from the Common.

Jiangnan is the region south of the Yangtze — Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou — home to the gentlest cooking in China: slow braises, clear broths, and a quiet balance of sweet and savory. That tradition anchors our kitchen.

On the table, Jiangnan is broader than one region: Peking duck, soup dumplings, Sichuan-style heat, wok-fired classics, and seafood shaped for a Boston dining room.

The room takes its cues from 1930s Shanghai — dark lacquer, antique gold, candlelight — and the hospitality stays old-fashioned: tea poured when you sit, unhurried tables, a staff glad to talk you through your first whole duck.

We serve with heart and passion.

From the dining room

What guests are saying about Jiangnan.

The shrimp is super tasty, and so is the Peking Duck. The spicy beef bone was excellent, and the atmosphere is nice, clean, and highly recommended.

Lindsay

We came without a reservation and found bar seats. I do not eat meat, but I genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered, and the portions around us looked impressively generous.

Min

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Boston. I highly recommend the duck and crab roe rice; the food is always seasoned perfectly and hits every time.

Miranda

Five stars on all aspects: good vibes, delicious food, and very good value. Peking duck is a must try; half duck works well for four people or fewer.

Ian

Very delicate Shanghai-style entrees and a comforting environment. The servers and staff are nice; I have been a frequent guest since they opened.

Tianrui

Very good upscale Chinese. The whole Peking Duck, eggplant, truffle mushroom fried rice, and sweet-and-sour spare ribs were all great for sharing.
